Did they change ttmkfdir? I always used to just run:
ttmkfdir > fonts.dir (from the tt font directory),
Then edit /etc/X11/fs/config to add the new font path.
Admittedly, I haven't done this from MDK 8.0. Is ttmkfdir different now?
