I cannot start x. I am using Mandrake
7.2, and I have XFree86 3.36 and 4.01
both installed.
The computer is an IBM ThinkPad 770z,
and it has a Trident Cyber 9397/DVD
graphics card. The monitor is 14.1
inches, and it should support 1024x768
resolution.
Others using my model have reported
success under XF86 3.36, and I have
modified and tweaked my XFdrake file
countless times. It still doesn`t work
(the screen goes black when X tries to
start), and I am getting desperate.
I am a newbie and probably can`t use the
computer for much else unless I
have a desktop environment.
I would greatly appreciate any help you
can offer me.
