I wouldn't mention software piracy on your part on any mailing list,
(particularly one who's focus is a competitor of theirs) because they (MS)
might be listening, and worse the archives are publically available on the
net...

and you will get added to their list... so if you ever come to prominence (I
wouldn't be surprised if they had web bots that go around like search engine
spiders looking for stuff like this...),, you will be a potential target for
them... (maybe even if you don't rise to promenence...) for one of their
much vaunted software audits...

I know that sounds like over dramatised paranoia, and it probably is but I
don't think that makes it any less true...

Microsoft are currently "bribing" * MS OEM resellers to "dob" * in people
ordering systems without an OS preloaded...what does that tell you???

* These terms are my own not microsofts, but what can you call an email that
offers software bonus's to people (its targeting more at staff of resellers
more then the resellers themselves.) that dob in others as in the above
example...???

I actually legally own my copies of win2000 pro and server,, and
win3.1,win95, win98 and winME (the latter three of which I no longer use as
my intensive usage caused crashes every hour or so (win98 not ME)...)
I wish I had started using linux on the desktop before I lashed out on all
this windows stuff (I have been using linux on servers since early slackware
and RH4.2 days.).. I am just happy I started moving to desktop before the
advent of XP. which I wouldn't piss on if it was on fire..

just be careful what you say on public lists,,, you can inadvertantly open
yourself to legal recourse on their part...

PS, no I am not a lawyer,, I'm a perl scripter amonst other things...

I'm only gonna attempt to partially answer your questions since I
have a single user desktop system, and yours is evidently more than
that.

Reiser is still beta. I've been using it since 7.2beta3, now on
8.0 with no problems running 24/7 since last September when I switched
from ext2.

Does here. I have a 250mb /swap and the rest of the 8g drive is all
in one big / formatted ReiserFS. I haven't seen complaints anywhere
about Reiser not getting along with either swap or ext2

   Here's where I have to drop out. I dual boot W98 (fat32)/Mandrake.
Billy hasn't gotten any money from me since W98 (and he didn't then
either, or for W95 for that matter ;)
I'd say you be much better off asking these questions on the expert
or cooker mailing lists. Searching the linux-kernel archive might also
be a good idea. I lurked there a few months ago for awhile, and there
was much ReiserFS discussion.
