I'm gonna ASSuME that you're usin 8.0. You should really specify
what Mandrake version you're usin when asking such questions as it will
vary the answer. Anyhow, for a simple GUI config, su to root in an
Xterm and type 'DrakConf' then click on Security, then Firewalling.
You'll be asked some simple easy questions and it'll configure an
iptables firewall for you. You can redo this anytime you want or need
to make changes. There's other ways to access this GUI tool, but
that's how I do it ;)
Then go to http://www.sdesign.com:8080/cgi-bin/fwtest.cgi
and do the quick Basic scan. If you pass that, then you can try the
Complete scan (email address required, you're emailed a report, takes
up to an hour).
For a more detailed security setup, type 'InteractiveBastille' as
root in an Xterm. This is a text based configurator and you shouldn't
try it unless you know what you're doing and are prepared to answer
some detailed questions. .... or are very adventurous, like me ;>
'Course the best security is to only have a 28,8 connection.. nobody
will bother foolin with ya then, hardly worth the trouble ;)
