to make usbscanner work.....
1)install sane the libs (get em from rpmfind.net)
2) edit /etc/sane.d/hp.conf to read
/dev/usbscanner
option connect-device
3) su to root and type
mknod /dev/usbscanner c 180 48
chown user/group /dev/usbscanner
insmod scanner
fire up xsane and go
