Hi,
I'm trying to get kups set up to recognize a network printer. My laptop is
running M8 and the network is winNT. I have done much research through the
archives, on the cups website and on the Mandrake site. I continue to get a
'can't connect to cups server' when I try to scan the network. It appears
that port 631 is not open. I did a nmap 127.0.0.1 and 631 is shown as closed.
How do I go about 'opening' it up? I tried to set all my security settings to
absolute minimum in Mandrake Control Panel. Still nothing. I see in my boot
up that Bastille is started, so I wonder if it is blocking the ports?
Anyway, I think if I (we) can solve this problem, then kups will probably
pick up the network printer.
Any ideas?
