In xml you basically create your own markup language. So you establish rules
and then a program can take those rules and make sure you're following them.
It's a good way to watch for errors and it's also a good way to make sure
several people who are on the same project are staying consistent.


Also, sort of off topic, I installed nedit last night. So far it looks
really good, but I'm having a problem with it. Key commands aren't working.
If I want to save with CTRL+S for example, instead of saving the document it
will insert some sort of tag into the document. This is true for all key
commands. They always take the form of <somethinghere>, possibly some xml
language. If I select the item from the menu, it works fine.

I spent a couple hours last night messing with the program and reading the
website to no avail. Could I have just had a bad install or something? I
gotta have my key commands :)
