I managed to put on a single 30G hard drive Mandrake 7.1, 8.0 , SuSe
7.0, Red Hat 6.2, slackware 8.0 and win98se. I used Mandrake 7.1 for
partioning and its lilo as boot manager. Then I installed all the
other distros. Finally, I booted mdk 7.1 by using a floppy and
modified /etc/lilo.conf. The most important part looks like

image=/boot/vmlinuz-2.4.9
        label=helium
        root=/dev/hda6
        read-only
image=/mnt/traktopel/boot/vmlinuz-2.4.9
        label=traktopel
        root=/dev/hda7
        read-only
image=/mnt/suse7/boot/vmlinuz-2.4.9
        label=suse7
        root=/dev/hda8
        read-only
image=/mnt/zoot/boot/vmlinuz-2.4.9
        label=zoot
        root=/dev/hda9
        read-only

...and so on...

Then you need to modify /etc/fstab, mount all partitions and
run lilo at the command prompt. That's it.

Interaction: It'snot a good idea to use programs intended for other
distributions, however, I installed StarOffice5.2 on mdk-7.1 as root and
then as a user. For all other distros a symbolic link was enough. The same
for jdk 1.3.1. As you probably noticed I use the same kernel for all distros
(compiled with mdk-7.1 and copied over along with the file
System.map-2.4.9).
I hope, it was useful.
