Update to Freq2 or Freq3.  There was a fix for people who had USB mouse and 
PS/2 keyboard (on all sorts of computers) that broke the IBM TrackPoint 
facility.  The updates in Freq fisx it.  You might also try the Updated 
kernel-2.4.7-12.3mdk, but please do _NOT_ not even during an air raid ever 
update a kernel.  ALWAYS install them.  That way the old kernel is still 
there and you can return to it if the newer one causes problems.

Furthermore, do nto attempt to get your laptop to show battery power through 
linux.  In particular, do not load lm_utils.  We are the only distro not 
putting that in by default and the reason we don't is to protect IBM laptops. 
 If you use the lm_utils and lm_sensors facility to monitor your hardware, 
you _will_ overwrite the I2C bus Prom and will have to return your notebook 
to IBM for a new motherboard.
