You need to run the Login Manager (in KDE it's under the control center, I'm not sure where it is in Gnome). Select the Sessions tab and at the lower part of the window, type KDE for the new type and click the Add new button. KDE must be in all caps. Save the settings and log out and see if selecting KDE now works. Assuming it does, go back to the Login Manager and remove the entry for KDE 22.
