Try this
First, do a backup of prefdm (for safety):
cp /etc/X11/prefdm /root
Then delete it:
rm /etc/X11/prefdm
Then create a symbolic link:
ln -s /usr/bin/gdm /etc/X11/prefdm
and reboot. That's it.
