I think it depends very much on which SiS card. I've had good luck with SiS 5597/5598 on Mandrake 7.2 (Xfree 3.3.6), I had some problems that I think I can solve (but have not bothered so far) with an SiS 730 on a Mandrake 8.0 beta. (Haven't tried anything since then.) Post the model number here, or check the Xfree site (www.xfree.org) -- somewhere they have lists of which cards are compatible with 3.3.6 and the other versions of xfree.
