I have Toshiba PDR-M5 Digital camera that uses
SmartMedia with USB/Serial port and it works fine !
You just have to start the USB daemon (as root)
by "/etc/rc.d/init.d/usb start', then mount the '/dev/tty1'
to some directory (i did it with '/mnt/digitalcam'), and thats it !!
you just go to '/mnt/digitalcam' and copy all your images
like from regular diskette !!! Very simple and easy.

Have you checked out www.gphoto.org

Gphoto is software to handle digital cameras in Linux. They have a catalogue

of 103 supported cameras.

Mine is not on the list.. Doh
