Just to be clear on things here. In order to mount my external HP cdwriter does Linux Mandrake have to detect it first or by mounting a point, if I using the correct terminology, Linux will do the rest and I will have use of my CDwriter?
In both LM 7.2 and 8.0 Linux didn't detect my CDwriter during installation although I thought it would have trouble with my DVD ROM but like any ATAPI device it was a breeze for it. Lastly, before you offer your great and unselfish help please keep in my I only just started messing with terminal commands (tar -xzvf, cd "name of script", sh ./) but if you can guide me slowly I will try my hardest to retain the info. Until, the next day when it gets cramed with numbers since I am machinist by trade. Thanks in advance.
