That's what I was looking for. Konqueror (and I think Nautilus as well) saves
the view settings for each directory in a .directory file (it's a GNOME format
that KDE has adopted, like .desktop files). To turn it off, click "View
Properties Saved in DIrectory" in the Settings menu.
