Search the cooker mailing list archive for discussion of 'libpng'.
Yes certain new apps or upgrades depend on it (eg, mozilla 9.5), but
installing libpng3 will break all the other (many) current apps that
depend on libpng2. The work-around seems to be to uninstall libpng2,
install libpng3, and create some s-links. Cooker is currently
updating those 'legacy' libpng2 apps to libpng3. So, you've either
got a lot of homework to do, or do without the latest ;)
Caution: this appraisal is about a week or two old, so everything
might'a changed by now ;) If you still just got'a have libpng3, it's
on the cooker mirrors
