Hi all.

I have a nVidia GeForce 2 MX AGP VGA screencard installed in an extra
computer that I have put together to evaluate Linux. LM 8.0 is installed.

At installation I have selected the nVidia GeForce 2 DDX driver.

The setup works perfectly while I am working/playing/evaluating, but after
about ten minutes of inactivity the screen starts to "snow" until the screen
is completely obliterated. This is not a screensaver as mouse or keyboard
activity does not stop this annoying behaviour - all that helps is to
manually reboot.

This does not seem to be a screen problem as I have exchanged screens from
three different manufacturers. The only strange thing is that with a Tatung
screen I can only view half the screen - the rest is there albeit that it is
not displayed, as when I move the cursor to where I know an Icon should be in
the undisplayed part of the screen and click, the application will open.

Is it the wrong driver that I use, does a driver exist for my card and if so
where can I get it?

I bought and installed the card yesterday, with a list obtained from MK's
website of "tested" videocards but most of those were already discontinued
and the closes match was the one I bought, so I can still exchange it. If I
do, what card would you recommend taking into consideration that this is an
old computer put together and upgraded specifically for evaluation and that I
don't want to spend much more than I already have on a new screencard.

Thanks in advance,

Lex.
