Does if have jumpers on board?
It'll be alot easier to configure if you set it to a specific com port like COM3, and maybe IRQ4, if it won't conflict with your serial devices. I've had problems with plug and play so I disabled it. If you're running a dual-boot machine look at its COM, IRQ and PORT settings on windows so you can set it up with setserial /dev/ttyS3 irq 4 port yabadayabada..... on /etc/rc.d/rc.serial, then do ln -s /dev/ttyS3 /dev/modem or better yet use modemconf, it'll do it for you.
