install wvdial,

then make a /etc/wvdial.conf file (touch /etc/wvdial.conf)
then run wvdialconf and it will detect your modem, speed, port etc...
and write the info to wvdial.conf

then you edit that file and put in the phone number, username and password
where it asks you

then you run it, and sit back and your connected, it does everything..
