rpm is not a viewer. its a utility. if you want a viewer then you have to find a front-end. the only one i know of is rpmdrake aka Software Manager.
you are getting errors because you are trying to install while as a normal user and cannot update the dependency database. log-in to root and try again. take care to test first the rpm before testing by adding the '--test' option to rpm. if there is no problem then take it out so the rpm can do its thing. post if you encounter any more problems. ciao!
