There are two things I have noticed about Linux. 1) An inherent cheekiness in the documentation. 2) The assumption that you know what you are doing.
It has been said that with windows, it something doesnt work you can just keep poking buttons until you figure it out. With Linux that approach will result in a meltdown. Reading the manual is dull, unrecoverable errors are much more exciting.
