Just to let everyone know, I tried them all and ended with Partition Magic; but only in the DOS mode, as something was wrong with the partition table. I repartitioned the drive into two and went from there. I had trouble with the install, but that's another matter. "See neither will install". Thank you for all your advice, however, as the attitude of this list is the most encouraging thing in the Linux world. Chuck
