Hi: If I understand you correctly, you have a shell script that you want to invoke from an icon on your desktop. There no need to "create an executable" if the script does what you want it to do once invoked. Just create an icon on your desktop. In the properties of that icon, there should be a field where you specify the command line to be executed when the icon is pressed. Fill in that field with the full path and filename of the script.
