testdisk worked, thank you to all who ehlped, and thank you for all the mondo excellent advice, some though cryptic, has been stored in a file on my system for future reference, and for my own education.
Once again, thanks to all who helped, it was much appreciated. Thanks to Alex,Darwin, Matt, Dimitris, bascule, and tester. I have fully recovered all data. I used a dos boot disc to boot, then the testdisk prog to do a slwolcan of the partitions, then a fastscan, then I scanned deeper into the extended partition and found my /home data. I now no longer keep my user data on the system drive, it is all down on the data drive. I have it like /Data/users and no more /home, and I do a CD burn of the data drive things once a month. So if something happens to the system drive, the user data remains un-touched, and the data drive user stuff gets boined to a CD. Once again many thanks. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Send FREE video emails in Yahoo! Mail! http://promo.yahoo.com/videomail/
