Hi Frank, An excellent source on modems is: Modem-HOWTO by David S. Lawyer in LM8.0 Documentation. I believe that it's also available on-line somewhere (I can't remember where). Another source would be "Linmodems" probably found at DaveCentral (I don't have the URL handy). These should get you going. Try also the Serial HOW-To if you really want to wow them (and put them to sleep :>) Hopefully, someone else will give you a better reply (and URL's).
