I use Buffalo/Melco wireless cards myself, but I have certainly read of people using Linksys with no problems.
just make sure you have the wireless tools rpm loaded. Mandrake should auto detect your card, but then you need to set it up and tell it the wireless group name (essid) and the encryption key. You can do that using the command iwconfig, for example iwconfig eth0 essid my_group key s:mykey_in_ascii That command was all I needed to get my wireless card working. Once it is working just put that command in /etc/rc.local If you have trouble consult the PCMCIA page at sourceforge http://sourceforge.net/projects/pcmcia-cs/ there is a very good HOWTO and a mailing list which covers wireless devices like the Linksys. A useful little tool you might like is korinoco. It puts a little icon in your KDE start bar showing you wireless signal quality. It even draws little graphs for you. There is a page on it at www.sourceforge.com HTH derek On Tuesday 22 January 2002 14:45, Michael Scottaline wrote: > Anyone know if Linksys wireless networking works with Mandrake 8.1.
