Just wanted to add my voice/vote to the concerns about devfs...
I just installed a SCSI2 DVD drive, replacing my old 52x IDE CD-ROM. I already
have a SCSI Plextor burner.
Mandrake did not recognize any change when rebooting after installation. I
manually edited /etc/fstab, and changed the properties on my KDE CD icons. The
DVD drive would work, the CDRW was shown as "unable to find special device"
blah, blah, blah. I rechecked my SCSI cable, rechecked my terminations, etc,
etc...
I put the "nomount" option in /etc/lilo.conf (concerning devfs) and it worked
like a charm.
I appreciate the concept behind devfs, and think it will be dead-handy once it
matures...once it matures. ;-)
