On my gatewaysolo5300 I am running a megahtz pcmcia nic. When I install it finds this device and installs two drives both for the same card. One on eth0 and one on eth1 both are setup for dhcp. Neither work when I first boot. I have to go into command center and then I have to go to network, connection, expert. If i try to activate eth0 nothing. it wont work. If i activate eth1 it instantly comes up with no problems. It gets it's ip and all network resoures are available. Thanks. I had posted this before but have since gotten more info to add. I am not trying to repeat my self.
