You *will* have problems trying to cut and paste between QT and GTK programs. Try this instead: have both apps open. highlight the text you want to transfer. Do NOT press ctrl-c or choose "copy" from the menu. Click once on the other app to change the focus, but be careful not to click-drag and create a new selection. Now click the middle button and your text will be transferred.
