whats to install???

you get the tarball, uncompress it so that you have the directory somewhere,

then you move the whole directory and make it /etc/firewall,

then you add a line to /etc/rc.d/rc.local or /etc/ppp/ip-up.local (depends what your
internet connection is, the former would work for an always on cable or adsl, and the
later for a dialup box.)

Thats it, then all you have to do is edit the one conf file /etc/firewall/gShield.conf

set your default policy in the conf,,, (the default is RESET, I changed that to DROP)
(its all commented, so if you can read, you can configure it, and in most cases, you
will only need to change 5 lines or less for your setup.)

And you are done.. (the main part of the conf you have to do is the STATIC="NO"
setting, which tells the script that its a dynamic IP address.)

Thats not that hard is it?

Subject: Re: [newbie] Setting Up Bastille

I greatly appreciate the advice received on Bastille.

Franki recommended gShield. I downloaded it, but am unable to figure out
how to install it.

I tried this, but was answered by

"command not found"

Does anyone know why?

Chuck
