There's an excellent tutorial at
http://www.mandrakeuser.org/docs/install/index.html#ku. If you have Mandrake's
documentation installed (look for a mandrake_doc-en package for English) look at
/usr/share/doc/mandrake/en/ref.html/compiling.html.
