If you print from a KDE application you will notice there is already a pseudo printer ready configured to create pdf documents. This pdf printer does nothing more than call up ps2pdf which will create a pdf file from a Postscript one. The ps2pdf application in turn uses ghostscript to create the pdf files. Hint:- -------- In many cases the PDF files produced by ps2pdf/Ghostscript are fine, but for some demanding applications like printing complex speadsheets out of StarCalc the output produced is rather 'crummy' (StarCalc columns wander all over the place) The solution is to visit http://www.ghostscript.com/ and replace your ghostscript6.51 with the AFPL-ghostscript7.03 The AFPL ghostscipt is non GPL hence its non inclusion in Mandrake, but is free (as in beer). So far it has handled everything I have thrown at it perfectly. Also on the site is GSView4.1 which displays pdf files a little more accurately than gv, but with not quite such a nice user interface. HTH derek
