Last week, I was all set up on running backups with executable files, based on the clear and thorough instructions provided by Chris Keelan:
> I would recommend either of the following: > 1. Create a subdirectory within /chuck > called /bin and then add that to your > path by modifying your .bashrc, or > 2. Add an alias in your .bashrc which > points to /chuck/backup > Just open your ~/.bashrc file in any > text editor and you can find both the > list of aliases (towards the top) and > the PATH variable (at the bottom). I had this set up and working well. But as luck would have it, my hard drive crashed the other day, and I lost this setup. I have tried to recreate it, but none of .bashrc files that I presently have on my system have a path statement contained in them. Should I write a Path statement into one of these? If so, which one? Regards, Chuck
