OK *grins* new headache!

I've been considering a new experiment on my TEST OS partition. The one
time I did this it failed & I want to know why.

Install LM8.0 or begin to.

Get to the partition utility. Normally I hit "auto allocate" & it gives
me 3 partitions: /root, swap, home.

Well...being me, I decided one day to screw around with this. So I made
a /, swap, var, boot, home partitions. *hope that makes sense, and not
in that order necessarirly*

Let LM8 install away happily. Get to the file manager when its done as
a normal user, look at my "Boot" partition, its empty! Mandrake had
made a new "boot" partition under /'s!? *YGO*Y*)#@$

Needless to say I wasn't happy.

Now, why didn't that work & how do I fix it? This assumes I do a new
install on a blank partition I have available. It's 10 GB of space.
