I currently have Mandrake 8.1 installed on 1 laptop and 1 desktop. In both cases, when I type locate somefile, i get bash: locate: command not found. This happens both as user and as root.
If I do which locate I get which: no locate in (numerous paths given in parentheses). Is there such a thing as a linux system that does not have locate? Why would Mandrake not have a basic command like locate? *************************************************** Powered by SuSE Linux 7.3 Professional KDE 2.2.1 KMail 1.3.1 This is a Microsoft-free computer Bryan S.
