You have to install xp first, and then Mandrake.  Just make sure you leave enough room 
on your HD to create your partitions for MD.  During the MD install, you will be asked 
to configure your bootloader.  All you have to do is tell it to make your xp the 
default (not positive with xp, but it will probably be labeled "NT" ).

If I am understanding your question right, you need to do this in your BIOS setup.  It 
will be under "boot sequence" or something to that affect.

Do you have the ISO?  If so, just about any windoz CD burner will burn it for you.  
I'm not positive if its nessesary, but I made sure to burn mine as ISO 9660 and NOT 
Joilet.
