Hi,

Everyone seems to be telling me this isn't possible, I thought I might
try here as a last ditch effort.

I'm running mandrake 8.2 and using gnome-terminal for a shell.

I want to be able to ssh into remote-pc#1 and have .bashrc on that
remote system configure my background color of gnome-terminal.

Likewise, if I ssh into remote-pc#2, have .bashrc set my background
color to something different.

Or even, when I login as fred in my local system my background color
will be red, but when I su'd into root - it'd change to blue.

I am not looking for the gnome-terminal --background=red option. I want
to configure the shell I am already in, via a command line, not open a
new shell.

regards,
T.
