I've not used it under 8.2 because I haven't been able to get 8.2 to work on my PC (see previous whiny posts). I've used it on 8.0 at home for a long time, and on 8.1 at work (afteer some hacking). No complaints whatsoever. IMHO, manual mounting is pointless. I mean, if you want to open a file or list a directory, then presumably you also want to mount the dirve where it's found, so why not do it automatically (supermount was not enabled by default in 8.1 because of some bugs in the then current version of supermount; AFAIK this problem has been resolved in 8.2). Sir Robin (now back on 8.0, but at least I don't have to post with Interent Explorer!)
