I might install SO again and give it a try, although what I can't understand is that it worked fine when I first installed and for at least a few days of regular use. Once the "can't save" crash started though it wouldn't save anything.
Makes me a little dubious if the default install can expose the user to that kind of garbage! ...and OpenOffice seems to do everything that SO does from what I've seen so far. Anyway, for the hell of it, I'll reinstall and have a look at all those directories it references before trying to open anything. Dimitris sent me a script to fix up some fonts problems which may also help, but I suspect that's not THE problem causing the crashes. cheers Brian
