services you can quit.. are you runnign a web server? if not then stop httpd. you should keep xfs (fontserver for X), syslog, harddrake , gpm (mouse), crond, cups (if you print) xinet (if you have added services to it, if not, disable it.), portmap, random and depending on your sound setup. you might need to keep also and or sound... use the control panel in mandrake to look at the descriptions of the others and decide if you want need them. What I meant is - crash has reasons. There is probably some info logged somewhere that would help me nail down those reasons. Question is where it is, what should I know before reading it and what should I do to access it. OK if we are to services business, one more question. I have currently running alsa, anacron, crond, cups, draxtools_http, gpm, harddrake, httpd, hylafax, internet, ipvsadm, keytable, kheader, kudzu, linuxconf, mysql, netfs, network, nfslock, numlock, portmap, random, sound, syslog, xfs and xinet. Altogether 26 services. Some of them I know and are needed (like cups or mysql, hylafax or alsa) but most are strange. Suggestions about which ones could be stopped without harm? Vahur
