Works fine under Wins, so not a hardware problem. It is a 5.1 setup, so the extra speakers are controlled from the sub-w, and I think it is this that is the problem. I guess I now have to decide whether to try to install the 'bleeding-edge' drivers, or hang on a bit longer. Thanks, anyway. Anne
