do you have dhcp server setup and running on this machine along with samba? that is how I'm using samba and linux on my home LAN. all the windows machines login to this machine, get their IP number from this machine as well as share it's internet connection. this machine also serves as fileserver and print server via samba. does this sound like what you're working to setup? --
