Thanks for the reply, however, a bit of research has established that Limewire no longer works with the Blackdown version of java which I am running.
I was able to get a working limewire going again only because as luck would have it, I had kept a copy of the old LimeWireLinux.bin file for the earlier version I had removed. Re-installed this and I now have a working Limewire installation again. Shame it's not the latest one but uninstalling/installing java versions is not something I can be bothered to get into right now. Might f**k up mozilla if I tried.
