clearly /etc/cron.hourly /etc/cron.daily /etc/cron.weekly /etc/cron.monthly all those are directory where you could put your hand-written script files in ,and cron will run that but i've lost the begin of this thread and can't help you more; why you're trying to edit /etc/cron.daily ??? -- Regards, Francesco
