Greetings,
I wish to change the default port in sshd, running on a ML10.1 box.
I have changed the line:
#Port
in /etc/ssh/sshd_config to read:
Port 5022
and then restarted sshd. and I have configured port 5022 in the port
fowarding configuration of my DSL modem (Actiontec 701-wg) to point to
the static IP address of my linux box. When I run "Probe my ports"
from www.grc.com to verify, It says that port 5022 is open.
www.canyouseeme.org also says that port 5022 is open. The problem is,
when I try to connect from a remote machine outside my subnet I get a
"connection refused" error. I have tried connecting with both putty
and telnet with no luck. If I change the port back to default (22) in
sshd_config, and open that port in the modem I can connect fine. What
am I missing?
Probably a silly question, but did you specify the port you want to
connect to on the ssh command line (i.e. -p 5022)?
