Hi folks,
A curious event occurred on my system this morning - I was unable to download my mail or save any work as there was no room on the partition.
df returned hdb8 usage as 100% of a 13GB partition.
I had to delete some files I would rather have kept in order to save the crucial files I was working on at the time. These amounted to about 800MB and gave me just about enough room to do this. I then restarted my system. On reboot, df showed hdb8 usage as the correct 21% and the system now appeared to be functioning normally in all respects.
This has happened once before a couple of months back, but last time I didn't lose any useful files in the process.
Anyone got any idea what's causing it and how I can make sure it doesn't happen again? Or if it does happen, how I can fix it without deleting files?
I'm assuming that the partition is somehow being misread rather than being filled up with crud of some kind.
