Well, perhaps I'll just 'go for it' and see what happens. The box that I use
for testing new installs is light on software, fully updated but no packages
from sources other than Mandrake, but the hardware is not good - Asrock mobo
and ATi video card. If this one can upgrade the other two should be a
doddle. ;-)

Despite the problems I had, it does run very well. And camera and card
reader work just so well! :-) I now download stuff from a site someone
on the list sent me, if I need to.
