The sad thing I presume will happen is: 1. US legalised software patents; 2. EU legalises software patents (oh, look, US did this, so most certainly we also should) 3. US' programmers stand up and shout "no fscking patents anymore! it's EVIL" 4. US retreats from software patents 5. EU retreats from software patents (oh, look, US did this, so most certainly we also should)
Now that's the best way for EU to become US's 51st state. Not mentioning the sad irony of this and the loughter of the rest of the world. Cheers Mike
