Frank, I'll send you, off-list, my lilo.conf - complicated because I haven't 
cleaned it up in ages - and a snapshot of my /boot listing, so that you can 
better see what I mean.

ISTR that I did a 'uname -a' to check the exact name of the kernel that was in 
use, then renamed the vmlinuz and initrd entries to match.  Then I renamed 
them in lilo.conf, ran lilo, and that's it.
