I got my averatec 5400 at wal-mart a few months ago on clearance for
$450.00 USD. They have an Averatec 3250 that is really small that is
only 4+ pounds and very portable. It will be my next laptop purchase
because I want something that I can throw into my backpack and take with
me everywhere. I have found Averatec to be decent but can be linux
challenged..as I have said. I had problems with most distros on it.
Mandriva was the first one to work completely and it installed the wifi
with no problem. I know some people that own emachines but they do not
use linux so I have no idea how they are.
